St. James Lutheran Church Accessibility Policy


Accessibility for staff, members and visitors is important to St. James Lutheran Church.

The church has addressed building accessibility in a number of ways:
- double doors at front and south side entrances offer extra wide access if needed for wheel chair access
- the front entrance (facing King St.) on the main level of the church is accessible using a ramp from the parking lot at the rear of the building
- the south side building entrance is accessible from ground level and is also close to the rear parking lot
- the south side entrance door is equipped with a motorized assisted opening device
- a lift inside the south side entrance is available to access the main and basement levels
- a washroom with a wide access door is available on the basement level

The follow lists the kind of accommodation one may normally expect to find:
- the content of this policy is available on the web page
- phone and email contact information is provided on the Sunday order of service pamphlet and web page
- the order of service is available in large print
- feedback may be provided by phone, email or by filling out a card (available in the rows of seating)
- a sound system provides additional volume level to assist with hearing
- on request, holy communion can be brought to the individual's seat to avoid having navigate the steps up to the communion table
- service animals and support persons are welcome inside the church building
- particular forms of accommodation will be discussed with individual staff or church attendee as required
